NYC SCHOOLS REPORT CARD

Is a survey really important to the city schools or do the (parents, teachers, students, dept.of ed) need to take look in the mirror at what they've done in the last decade. Some Students have not put education first towards their goal in life; Parents have been too busy to check on their child's education in school; Teachers have ignored the progress of a child's learning ability to see what interest them & what they need to learn; Dept. Of Ed. have less resources for the poor schools & more for the rich schools. In the article Students, Teachers and Parents Weigh In On State Of The Schools by Jennifer Medina she addresses a priority to maintain school order with behavior, attendance, testing for the kids in school. In the school year my class answered the survey then discussed about it to our teachers and told them how we felt about the questions being asked. The response was crazy to the teachers because we told them how we felt about them & the school system. We felt cheated about all the schools we went to because it was different when we got there. We felt that school got boring because the teachers made it feel that way doing the same stuff that wasn't fun for us. As a student I'm satisfied with my education to finish high school even though it took me 6 years to get it done even with all the bad memories that I've experience in school. My education can be improved by studying new things in technology, researching, political, writing fields that make want to learn more. Testing for city schools should be different because most kids can't pass the regents that are required so they drop out to get an GED to make them feel good about leaving school & getting a job without applying to a college. One test a year should apply with Dept. Of Ed to get the students ready for regents passing with a 65 & higher. Students should go out for lunch or be able to eat what they want in school at lunch time to make us happy during the day. More after school programs should be brought in too better the relationship between kids and school.More trips for the kids who come to school everyday. The school year would be fun for students to finish and not worry about a survey.
